My brother is friends with a fella who owns a record store- new and used vinyl records. He told my brother that one artist whose albums he can’t even give away- are those of Barbra Streisand. In the past year plus I have from various record stores collected most of her albums- I haven’t paid more than a dollar for any of them.

“The Way We Were” was Billboard’s #1 chart hit single for the year of 1974. “The Way We Were” would go on to win an Oscar for Best Original Song at the 46th Academy Awards.

  1. I remember when Barbra Streisand was on a real roll, in music and movies. I personally love her in both. I know my x bought at least one of her albums (was there one with her in a Superhero outfit?)

  2. I bought a few of her singles on 45 when I was younger. I remember enjoying her in What’s Up Doc. Hollyweird has cranked out some obnoxious asses that actually believe they are smarter than everyone else.

I saw The Way We Were…once, a few years ago. I came to the conclusion that she doesn’t really know how to act, she just repeats lines and acts like herself. There are “actors” in Tinsel Town that can’t actually “act.” They just play themselves on camera. They have very little engaging talent but, get by on “personality.”

I keep hoping I will read somewhere that someone finally punched Ms S in the face.

    • She is one of those artists that while a great singer- I have a hard time really getting into because of her personality- and all the stories I’ve heard. Of course I don’t know her but when you hear all those stories from various people there has to be some truth to them.

  3. I have always loved Barbara Streisand. I have just done a quick bit of research. Seems to me, in general that she is just unapologetically herself. That seems to have been the type of character she has generally portrayed on film too.
