“Time In A Bottle” became Jim Croce’s second #1 hit in 1973- this one was a posthumous hit- Croce had been killed in a plane crash in September 1973. Jim Croce wrote the lyrics to this song in 1970- after his wife told him that she was pregnant. ABC had no plans to release “Time In A Bottle” as a single-until Croce was killed in that plane crash.
😦 Didn’t know the background info on it. The lyrics are beautiful and eerie in light of his death.
Great song but obviously very sad circumstances
Beautiful song. I also love the guitar part!
This is probably my favorite Croce song! I wrote about it for a Tune Tuesday blog in the past. It is beautiful. His vocal, the guitar work, and the lyrics strike a chord with me. It recently took on a very special meaning as it was the first song my wife and I ever danced to.
I can’t argue with that- Leroy Brown is probably his most famous song- but this is his best.
I love this song.
