I always thought of this as a great AM Radio song. Looking Glass a band from New Jersey had only one other hit #33 Jimmy Love Mary-Anne- 1973. They only made 2 albums- but they did have a #1 hit in “Brandy”- which is still heard quite often on the radio.

That best friend I mentioned on Intogroove’s post about Joni Mitchell’s “Blue” absolutely hated this song, along with “Honey” by Bobby Goldsboro (which I know you also hate).
Another of those great ’72 singles that I mentioned yesterday! Always loved this one. Trivia you may already know, Barry Manilow’s first hit was written as “Brandy” but he changed it to “Mandy” because he didn’t want people to get confused with this song.
If I knew that- I had forgotten it…. I was looking at the 72 #1 hits-to put in order of greatness- nearly impossible. What a year.
This is an awesome song. I wish they had more music.
I still love this song. The lead vocalist is fabulous.
