Hans Remembers- Saturday August 1, 1970- 50 Years Ago.

- The ferryboat MV Christena capsized and killed 233 passengers and crew when the overloaded vessel was making the 12 mile journey between the islands of Saint Kitts and Nevis. The ferry’s capacity was for no more than 155 people. Only 91 were rescued and 123 bodies recovered, more than half of them unidentifiable. The remaining 110 were trapped on the Christena when it sank. Looking at the photo above- what in the hell where they thinking of putting that many people on the boat?

- Pittsburgh Pirates slugger Willie Stargell had 3 doubles and 2 home runs in the Pirates 20-10 win over the Atlanta Braves. That looks more like a Steelers vs Falcons score than a baseball score.

- American film actress Frances Farmer died on this day of esophageal cancer.
:::smh::: on that photo. Looks like none of them had life vests on either š¦
Yeah, incredible, the boat! It looks like it’s riding SO LOW in the water.
That is terrifying.
a disaster waiting to happen.
