The Main Ingredient were an R&B vocal group out of Harlem, New York City. From 1970-75 they had 11 Hot 100 singles with 3 making the Top 40. Their biggest hit was “Everybody Plays The Fool” #3 in 1972. Their lead singer Donald McPherson died of leukemia in 1971 and he was replaced by Cuba Gooding -the father of actor Cuba Gooding Jr.
