30 Day Song Challenge: Day 15: A Song from A Movie Soundtrack: “You Can Get It If You Really Want”- Jimmy Cliff from “The Harder They Come” soundtrack. I hadn’t thought too much about this – while I have bought soundtracks over the years the question “What is my favorite soundtrack?” never has crossed my mind but in coming across this question the first answer that comes to mind is the soundtrack from the movie The Harder They Come. I had read about the soundtrack somewhere and when I came across it at a record store I snapped it up. I hadn’t heard much reggae music at the time. I knew who Bob Marley was- that was about my limits. I came home and played this and loved it. Half of the dozen tracks are by Jimmy Cliff. There is no Bob Marley on the soundtrack by the way. The song I picked out from the album- was the first song on side 1- “You Can Get It If You Really Want”- by Jimmy Cliff.
