Over the past year of so I have seen a number of 30 Day Song Challenges. I came across this one over a month ago on Ray’s Musings- June has 30 days- so why not start a new 30 Day Song Challenge- A Song You Discovered This Month- “Union, God and Country”- Steve Earle. Steve’s new album released on May 22 “Ghosts Of West Virginia” centers on the the 2010 Upper Big Branch coal explosion that killed 29 coal miners.

I got the CD last week and have listened to it a few times. I’m a bit ambivalent about the generic quality of the melodies, but the lyrics can’t be beat.
I did a song challenge back in Dec. 2018.
Love Steve. Did a take on ‘The Mountain’ with Del McCoury. Love this stuff.
That is one Steve tour I missed- The Mountain with Del and the boys- he didn’t come near that time..
He always puts on a good show whether with a band or solo. I’ll meet you at an outdoor festival if he’s scheduled.
Sounds like a deal.
