“I’m A Believer” by The Monkees took over #1 on the last day of 1966 and held on at the top spot until the second half of February when the first new #1 of 1967- “Kind Of A Drag” knocked them off the first of 19 #1 hits for 1967. The Buckinghams were a pop band from Chicago. They had 5 Top 40 hits in their career and all of them came in the year 1967- 3 of which made the Top 10. Looking at all the #1’s in 1967- this one may not be the worst but it’s a contender. A lame way to begin 1967.
Wow, a D is pretty harsh. Admittedly, it’s not a great song, especially when compared to many of the other stellar songs from that era, but I always liked it well enough.
