- Former Beatle John Lennon’s explicit “Bag One” lithographs are returned to the London Arts Gallery exhibition after a high court judge ruled them unlikely to deprave or corrupt.The exhibition of lithographs was raided January 15 by police officers who confiscated eight of the fourteen original art works on grounds of indecency.
- An unidentified 58 year old woman became the first person to receive a heart pacemaker to be powered by atomic battery in a four hour operation at the Hopital Broussais in Paris. The battery, powered by 150 micrograms of plutonium reportedly had a life span of ten years.
