Bill Withers has passed away from heart complications at age 81. Withers known for his big hits “Lean On Me” a #1 from 1972, “Ain’t No Sunshine”, “Use Me” and “Just The Two Of Us” with Grover Washington Jr- was born in Slab Fork, West Virginia in 1938. I’ve always thought of him as being an artist who while certainly successful – deserved even more success. What a great voice! Instead of attaching one of his big hits- I am going to feature his first Hot 100 hit- one which just failed to make the Top 40- a great song called “Grandma’s Hands” from 1971.

Bill Withers’ voice is one of a kind. Sorry to hear of his passing. “Grandma’s Hands” is a beautiful song. Grandmas serve such an important niche in a family.
That might be my favorite Bill WIthers tune.
I listend to him earlier in the day and enjoyed the richness of his voice and words. Thank you for this one.
What a voice he had.
Yes, it was wonderful.
Great vocalist, for sure, and quite a gifted songwriter. It’s sad he’s gone!
