The Supremes followed up their 3 #1 hits in 1964- with 3 more in 1965- “Stop! In The Name Of Love” was the first of the three. I have been critical of The Supremes in the past but so far the first four big hits I really liked them all- It was later in the 60’s where I think their Holland-Dozier-Holland songs started to sound similar. Backing up The Supremes instrumentally on the song are The Funk Brothers.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame named “Stop! In The Name Of Love” as one of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.
This is probably my favorite song by The Supremes.
