I Love The Smell Of Punk In The Morning- “God Save The Queen”- The Sex Pistols.
The Sex Pistols second single- the follow up to their debut ‘Anarchy In The U.K.”- “God Save The Queen” was issued for Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee in 1977. Who would have thought back then that QEII would still be going strong 43 years later- at the age of 93? The single of course was controversial and the BBC refused to play it over their airwaves. Even without the airplay the single went to #1 on the NME chart and #2 on the UK Singles Chart- there are those who believe the fix was in to keep it from going to #1 on the UK Singles Chart. “God Save The Queen” would be issued on The Sex Pistol’s only official studio album- Never Mind The Bollocks- a great album that every rock music fan should own. At one point or another this year I am sure I will feature every song on that ground breaking album.
You need not convince me. I have both the single and the album.
They have a collective pair.
This was and still is one of my fave experiences as an album.
Every time I hear this it reminds me how much I like it.
