Hans Remembers- Saturday February 7, 1970- 50 years ago.

- Milhous Nixon’s Vice-President Spiro Agnew was his attack dog. He ended up resigning not because of any involvement in Watergate- but from issues back in Maryland when he was their governor. Agnew didn’t come across well in the media- and I remember what happened 50 years ago today well- at the Bob Hope Desert Classic- professional golfer Doug Sanders was struck on the head with a golf ball by a golf ball hit by Agnew. Sanders was unfortunate enough to be grouped with Agnew- along with Bob Hope and U.S. Senator George Murphy. Sanders was sent to the hospital for treatment after being hit. A year later Spiro hit three spectators while golfing.
Is that Jerry Reed to the far left in that pic??? All I know about Agnew is what I’m reading here. All I can say about Agnew is that I feel sorry for his wife 😦
Good one- I hadn’t looked the picture over but that has to be Jerry Reed!
Jerry Jerry Jerry how in the world did you get into this mix?!?!
It was a celebrity golf tournament- he was a star for a few years- music and movies..
And, the far right looks like Darren McGavin…the Night Stalker. To the right of Reed looks like Reagan? Donald O’Connor?
Agnew came to my college campus once – Zero personality!
