Sweet Soul Music Of The 70’s- “Love Won’t Let Me Wait”- Major Harris.
Major Harris was a former member of The Delfonics from 1971-74. As a solo artist this was his only Top 40 hit- and it was a big one- #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the R&B singles chart. Harris died at the age of 65 in 2012 of heart failure. “Love Won’t Let Me Wait” has been covered by others including Johnny Mathis, Luther Van Dross, Isaac Hayes and Paul Young.
I am loving your soul music series. I could just cry that this music is not on the radio anymore…or even made.
Late 60s- early 70s- the high water mark for great soul music!
A+++
