Hans Remembers- Thursday January 15, 1970- 50 years ago.

- First Lady Pat Nixon christened the Pan American World Airways “Young America” by breaking a bottle of champagne on the nose of the first Boeing 747.

- Don’t do drugs- Michael James Brody inherited $26,000,000 at the age of 21. He announced he planned to give away a large part of his fortune to anyone who needs the money bad enough- just come to his home in Scarsdale, New York. After giving away money thousands of dollars to strangers he calls a stop to all the nonsense saying that he had made the announcement while he was tripped out on drugs.

- Bob “For Texaco” Hope with his “The Bob Hope Christmas Special” set a record for most viewers of an entertainment show on television with a Nielsen rating of 46.6- the show was viewed in 27,260,000 American homes. Hope would visit the troops in South Vietnam and do a show every year 1966-73.
I don’t remember the Michael James Brody story, but it’s hilarious, and sweet to know what was in his heart when under the influence. I wonder what eventually became of his fortune.
I was curious about that too- he’d be 71 today I will have to do some searches.
