- JIMMIE RODGERS: A LEGENDARY PERFORMER: 1978: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: VINYL: A complication album- with booklet. A decent introduction to Jimmie Rodgers but in today’s age you can find better than this. In between songs there are brief comments about Jimmie from those who knew him- his brother-in-law, his daughter..

- DAVID BOWIE: HUNKY DORY: 1971: 5+ STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: IPOD : On what would have been David Bowie’s 73rd birthday- thought I’d listen to a couple of his albums. Hunky Dory is my favorite Bowie- “Changes’, “Oh! You Pretty Things”, “Kooks” and my all time favorite Bowie song “Life On Mars”- my Mt. Rushmore of this album.

- DAVID BOWIE: ALADDIN SANE: 1973: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: IPOD: A strong case could be made for Bowie being the Artist of The Decade in the 1970’s- he released 11 albums that decade. This was the first album he released after achieving stardom with Ziggy Stardust. Aladdin Sane has a more harder rock edge than Stardust- the most well known song on this album is “The Jean Genie” other standouts- “Panic In Detroit”, “Watch That Man”, “Drive-In-Saturday” and “Cracked Actor” are my favorites but the entire album is a keeper. Another iconic album cover also.
Hunky Dory ranks right up there for me with Bowie also. He was such a talented musical genius!
An artist ahead of his time.
