Finally we have reached the end of the line- the final week of 1969- the last week of charts in 1969 was the week ending December 27, 1969- and there were eleven singles which debuted on the charts that week. The two today were the two highest entering the chart that week- “Hey There Lonely Girl”- Eddie Holman and “Without Love[There Is Nothing”}- Tom Jones.

664. “Hey There Lonely Girl”- Eddie Holman. ABC. Soul. Written by Leon Carr and Earl Shuman. B-side:”It’s All In The Game.” Peaked at #2 14 weeks on the chart. The song was first recorded by Ruby and The Romantics as “Hey There Lonely Boy” #27 in 1963 and was later a hit also by Robert John #31 in 1980. Eddie Holman an R&B singer-songwriter born in Norfolk, Virginia and raised in New York City and Philadelphia had 5 Hot 100 singles -this one being his only Top 40 hit. Grade: A

665. “Without Love {There Is Nothing}- Tom Jones. Parrot. Pop. Written by Danny Small B-side:”The Man Who Knows Too Much. Peaked at #5 11 weeks on the chart. Tom Jones had 3 Top 40 hits in 1969- this one being the highest charting one. Grade: B +

Yes, there were a few. And some I realized there was a reason I didn’t ever hear them, haha.
There are some I think “Why wasn’t this a hit”- others ‘How was this a hit” and then there is the “I can see why this wasn’t a hit!
