Even if they are not great…I love hearing about these artists I’ve never heard before. The Cuff Links…I listened to Tracy and have heard that before…never knew the band.
Off topic- did you get a chance to watch the Oscar Levant interview?
No I did not. I was going to ask you about that. It recorded a part of a movie…not the interview. I messed up somewhere.
It was maybe 20 -25 minutes long- the hosts on TCM talked about Oscar beforehand and said they thought this interview was done during one of his ‘down’ period. It was interesting- he was funny- but also seemed troubled……. they said before the interview that he smoked 4 packs of cigarettes a day and up to 40 cups of coffee a day.
The cups of coffee is crazy well the cigarettes also but that fits with what Harpo said. I’m going to search for it on their site. I’m hoping I can catch it online. I don’t know what I did.
He seemed like a very intelligent guy and also argumentative for the fun of it from what I read.
I don’t know if you have seen the movie- The Man Who Came To Dinner- a 1942 movie- the main character named Sheldon Whiteside- is based on Alexander Woollcott– the Jimmy Durante character- Banjo is based on Harpo.
Yes I have that one…It is really good. I read that Woollcott wanted to play Whiteside in the play version. I haven’t seen it in a few years. I got it because of that Harpo book.
Great movie we watch it every Christmas season
All new ones for me also. The first video was cute and funny.
