“Pony Time” was originally released by co-writer Don Covay’s group the Goodtimers in 1960 it would reach #60 for the Goodtimers in 1961 but in the hands of Chubby Checker would go to the top becoming Checker’s second #1 and introducing a new dance “The Pony.”
The dancing in the video cracks me up. The music sounds an awful lot like The Twist.

The Pony indeed! I feel embarrassed for him! But the Twist was a big hit!
