That is so cool.
That mural brings back so many memories for me. I worked in the Stephen F. Austin building at 17th & Congress & Colorado (the building was its own block). Next door (18th & Congress & Colorado) was the Texas State Museum. That mural was at Guadeloupe & 21st…just blocks away. I rode the CapMetro bus into downtown and Guadeloupe was the direct route in. My ride-mates were downtown professionals and Longhorn students.
Man, I miss Texas.
I’ve been to Austin a couple times- interesting place. Wish I had spent more time there…. Texas is too hot though!
The Panhandle is cooler. But, they get all the snow & tornadoes. Actually, tornado alley reaches all the way down to Waco. Central Texas gets all the awful hail storms. There is a big industry for roof replacement & car dents. Then, there are the hurricanes for the coast & east. West Texas is nothing but desert.
It was hot. Had trouble wearing my leather jacket down there. In nine years, I saw two ice storms and two snow storms…and “storm” is stretching it.
It’s the humidity that gets me. I have enjoyed my visits there- just wouldn’t want to live there.
It certainly made me appreciate NC weather.
But, I do still miss it.
That is really cool Hans. Someone at work came up to me talking about him. He just found out about him because of the articles recently….he is gaining new fans.
That is good to hear!
