The Sounds Of Autumn: Day 3/90: Wednesday September 25, 2019- “Autumn Almanac”- The Kinks. “Autumn Almanac” is a song written by the brilliant Ray Davies- and was a non-album single released by The Kinks in 1967. While the single went nowhere in the United States it as a big hit in the United Kingdom where it peaked at #3. There are two versions that The Kinks released of the song- the stereo version is ten seconds longer than the mono version. Another great sounding song from The Kinks.
Always thought they came up with the best power riffs of the guitar of the 1960’s
good one. I have probably asked you this before, but why do groups put out non-album singles? It seems like the song could get lost along the way without an album to be connected with.
That was kind of a 1960’s trend- I think in the 70’s- they would have the single on the album usually. Maybe it was a carry over from the days when singles ruled- before albums became big in the mid 60’s.
OK, thanks 🙂
