Dan would have been pleased about the coverage his passing has received. A big article in the New York Times- you can’t get much bigger than that. I may be wrong on this prediction but I believe his music/ songs will become bigger in the future- than they were during his lifetime. I know his art has received a lot of attention over the years but it was always the songs he wrote that got me.
Pretty much forgotten by the world until he dies. Same thing with Townes. Why not step in while they are alive and try to help? That’s a rhetorical question, but there is sadness at his passing.
I will say Dan was well taken care of by his family. His illness started at a fairly young age. No one was taking advantage of him. His health problems tended to make it worse.
That’s very good to know. With Townes I don’t think he would allow his family to take care of him. He came from a very wealthy family.
I would doubt that Dan went anywhere along in the last 30 plus years of his life. That is a terrible thing BUT- it could have been a danger 1- him driving and 2- tracking him down after he left.
