- A couple weeks after the bloodless coup in Libya- the new Revolutionary Council named a physician- Mahmud Sulayman al-Maghribi as the new Prime Minister of Libya.

- The great Formula 1 driver Jackie Stewart won the Italian Grand Prix- which clinched his first Formula 1 Drivers Championship- it was his 6th victory of the season. By the time he retired in 1973 Stewart had won 3 Formula 1 titles and 27 of the 99 career Formula 1 races he entered. He is considered one of the greatest F1 drivers ever. He is still living -at 80 now.

- Model Rachel Hunter- was born on this day in Glenfield, New Zealand. She was married to rocker Rod Stewart from 1990 to 1999-they separated and were officially divorced in 2006. Rod’s heart was broken. Kind of ironic when you consider Rod’s past history with women- that HIS heart was broken.

- Gary Speed- a soccer player was born in Mancot, Flintshire, Wales on this day 50 years ago. At one time Speed held the record for most games played in the Premier League with 535. He played from 1988-2010 with Leeds United, Everton, Newcastle United, Bolton and Sheffield. He retired and became a coach. Sadly, the dependable Speed committed suicide in November 2011 at the age of 42- which mystifies those who know him.

- Dying on this day- Bud Collyer [born Clayton Heermance, Jr.} an American voice actor who voiced Superman on the radio and in cartoons. He was also the first TV game show host for Beat The Clock and To Tell The Truth. Collyer was sixty-one and had been in declining health for a while.
I was just looking up all of Stewart’s women & children. He definitely screwed the pooch with his first daughter and her mother. If Rachel Hunter broke his heart, he had it coming.
Yes I remember when she left him–he was blabbering around- kind of like a similar playboy- Joe Namath when his much younger left him. He was all heartbroken.
Boo. Hoo. Karma’s a bitch.
