I wonder if Calley dreams, and if so, of what? Dweezil’s real name is Ian? Very heart-warming article on the Roosevelts and the Whites.
I read something- well I will copy it here for you- on Calley…On August 19, 2009, while speaking to the Kiwanis Club of Greater Columbus, Calley issued an apology for his role in the My Lai massacre. Calley said:
“There is not a day that goes by that I do not feel remorse for what happened that day in My Lai,” Calley told members of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Columbus on Wednesday. His voice started to break when he added, “I feel remorse for the Vietnamese who were killed, for their families, for the American soldiers involved and their families. I am very sorry.”
Call me uncharitable, but sorry doesn’t seem to be enough. That said, when you willingly become a piece of property of the US government (i.e. a soldier) there is just no telling what they will order you to do. I don’t blame him as much as I blame the government for getting us into that mess and committing untold evil that either killed or permanently screwed up the bodies and minds of our soldiers — not even beginning to mention what we did to the people of that tiny nation.
Well what’s done is done. Saying he’s sorry is about all he can do.. I am sure he has lived with this every day since. He is at least not out there saying he did nothing wrong- I do think he got off easy.
100% agree with you. These days the guilty arrogantly say they were entitled to whatever it was they did, or they blame it on someone else.
As far as I know he’s never attempted to cash in- in fact when I looked him up I wasn’t sure if he was still alive. At least he’s been quiet.
There was a lot of nasty s*** that went down in Vietnam. How does one soldier wind up solely responsible for a massacre. Twenty-six soldiers were charged but, one man goes to prison? I smell a cover-up. Paroled 3 1/2 years later? We will never know the truth of what really happened.
Glad to see Dweezil finally shaved his uni-brow.
After all the horror those troops saw in Nam, Lt. Calley was a scapegoat offered up for slaughter to the liberals.
