The Sounds of Summer Day 70/95: “Girls In Their Summer Clothes” Bruce Springsteen. When I first heard this song from The Boss’s 2007 Magic album- my first thought “girls in their summer clothes” that line sounded familiar then it hit me- of course “Paint It Black”- The Rolling Stones “I see the girls go by dressed in their summer clothes.” Bruce’s song which is my favorite song on Magic- has the girls passing Bruce by. I would bet it has been some time since he’s had that experience- but it is one of my favorite Bruce songs of recent years. Bruce was nominated for two Grammy’s for this song- Best Rock Song and Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance.

This song warms my heart. It’s my fave Bruce song since the Born to Run album.
I really hadn’t thought about it but I’d rank it as possibly my favorite since 1992. A gem.
