The Sounds of Summer: Day 67 of 95: “Summer Madness”- Kool and The Gang. The b-side of “Spirit Of The Boogie” which peaked at #35- in 1975- Kool and The Gang had just broken the year before as hit makers- with “Jungle Boogie” #4 and “Hollywood Swinging” #6. I’ve only had a few instrumentals among the summer songs- time for another one. Not a big instrumental fan but I do like this one.
Such a mellow song for a warm summer evening.
Kind of fall like here- or the fall feeling in the air… i know it won’t last though too early for that sadly.
Same here.
Isn’t it a great composition? I really pulls you in. I can almost feel the intensity of the sun on my skin. The pulsating rays. Too hot. I’m going to get burned but I don’t care.
LOL!
Pretty dramatic, huh? But really, I’m serious. I love the song. Ha!
I like it too!
This was almost my “Tune Tuesday” song! Here in Detroit, Alan Almond used it every night at midnight when he signed off of his love songs show “Pillow Talk”. The song will forever be linked to him for me.
Wow that is a crazy coincidence. .
When I asked people at work if they remembered the song, no one knew what I was talking about. I played it for them and they all knew it immediately! When I told them it was Kool and the Gang – none of them believed me!
It certainly doesn’t sound like a song you’d expect from Kool and The Gang does it.
Not at all!
