The Sounds of Summer- Day 53 of 95- “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere”- Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett. What shocks me about this single which spent 8 weeks at #1 on the country music singles chart- is that is came out in 2003. It seemed like it wasn’t that long ago. This single was from Alan Jackson’s Greatest Hits Volume II album- back when he was still played on country radio- and who better to have guest on a song like this than Jimmy Buffett. An instant summertime classic. The song written by Jim Brown and Don Rollins was released just in time to dominate the charts in the summer of 2003- June 2, 2003. The song was first offered to Kenny Chesney who thankfully turned it down- and then to Jackson who accepted it saying he was looking for a song to record with Buffett. The single even made a dent on the Billboard Hot 100-peaking at #17.
Itβs National Vinyl Record Day.
Thanks for the heads up- will listen to nothing but vinyl today!
I instantly thought of you when I read that. π

I like the boat them as they got hooks flyin’ all over the place for this hit. Never heard it before to my memory but it’s a good choice for a summer song!
You never heard this song before? It seemed like a song that even if you didn’t look for it- it was there.
I don’t think so. Didn’t seem familiar.
