- PAUL MCCARTNEY: FLAMING PIE:1997: ROCK: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: APPLE: It had been four years since his previous album Off The Ground failed to do just that. George Martin and Jeff Lynne come in as producers- and he seemed to have something to prove. One of my favorite later day Paul albums. A good listen from start to finish- favorites being “Somedays”, “Calico Skies” “Young Boy” “The World Tonight” and the title track. It was Paul’s first top 10 album since Tug Of War and received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year- losing out to Bob’s “Time Out Of Mind.”

- PAUL MCCARTNEY: DRIVING RAIN: 2001: ROCK: 3 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: APPLE: This album suffers from actually being too long- at over 67 minutes. Many of the songs on this album were inspired by Heather Mills- need I say more on that? The most notable song on the album- “Freedom” was inspired as Paul was sitting on a plane in New York City as 9-11 went down.
I always thought that Paul looked like Robert Mitchum in that picture.
You know I never gave that a thought before- but there is some Mitchum in that picture!
I used to have this Mitchum Album and I swore Paul looked like him on that album….lol.
