ALBUMS

- THE DRIFTERS: GOLDEN HITS: 1968: 12 Drifters hits. A good starter- and I liked this so much I would later buy the box set of The Drifters years later.

- THE CARS: CANDY-O: 1979: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Released a year after their excellent debut- a solid sophomore effort-same style of music as the debut but a couple shades less brilliant.

- THE VELVET UNDERGROUND: LOADED: 1970: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: The final album with Lou Reed. The three best songs are right there off the bat on side 1- “Who Loves The Sun”, “Sweet Jane” and “Rock & Roll.”

- EASY RIDER: SOUNDTRACK: 1969: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: With the 50th anniversary of the movie this month- thought I’d dig out the album. The Steppenwolf Born To Be Wild, and The Pusher- the two songs that always come to mind with this movie.

- CHER: 3614 JACKSON HIGHWAY: 1969: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Never a fan of Cher- even when she had all her original parts. But this isn’t a bad album- made with the pros down at Muscle Shoals-the producers Jerry Wexler, Tow Dowd, Arif Mardin– an album of covers of already famous tunes. Cher does a good job on them- it didn’t sell much at the time the album peaked at #160 on the album chart- but it’s a good listen.
The Weight. Love that song.
