“Time To Play B-Sides”- “Bring It On Home To Me”- Sam Cooke. “Bring It On Home To Me” was the b-side to “Having A Party” in 1962. Both sides of the single outstanding- in fact in Dave Marsh’s book- 1001 Greatest Singles Of Rock and Soul- both are on his list. “Bring It On Home To Me” is also listed as one of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. My favorite part of the song is the part where Sam is singing “Bring It On Home To Me Yeah”- and a voice in the background echoes him- that voice belonged to an upcoming singer named Lou Rawls. The song was written by Sam Cooke. It peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Yes, there are layers I can see.
One of the top contenders for my “If you could only listen to ten songs for the rest of your life” list.
That wouldn’t be a bad selection. A song I never get tired of hearing.
All-time favorite. If you want to go deep into the catalog, here is one of my favorite songs by Sam Cooke:
