- THE WHO: FACE DANCES: 1981: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: The Who should have broken up after the death of Keith Moon- like Led Zeppelin would do after Jon Bonham’s death. I’ve always liked this album but it should have been Pete Townshend’s follow up solo album to Empty Glass.

- SAM COOKE: THE BEST OF SAM COOKE: 1962: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: My introduction to Sam Cooke- it has been bettered in the CD era with Portrait- covering his entire career but this was good enough to have me digging for more Sam Cooke.

- GO-GO’S: VACATION: 1982: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: While their debut album easily outshines it- the second album by the Go Go’s is pretty good. Only had the one hit the title track- the debut album had two but every song on that sounded like a hit- not so on this album.
I did get round to listening to Revolver. Many of the songs I had heard before. The ones I liked most were ‘What goes On’, ‘In my life’ and ‘If I needed Someone’. Obviously a great album, but the Beatles still don’t do it for me despite my appreciation of their musical brilliance, originality and influence. I really wish I was besotted by them.
Cool album art on Face Dances. Speaking of Led Zep after Bonham’s death, I listened to Coda on the way back and forth to GR Saturday. Not impressed 😦
That was a rarities album- not their greatest material.
