Time To Play B-Sides-“Silver Springs”- Fleetwood Mac. “Silver Springs” was originally intended to be on Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” album released in 1977- but was relegated to being the b-side to the “Go Your Own Way” single. The song was written by Stevie Nicks- and it is one of her best songs [ I am not a big fan of her’s but this is a great song} She would say later that the exclusion of the song from the album caused tensions within the band. It was a song about her relationship with Lindsay Buckingham. Nicks would say about “Silver Springs”” I wrote “Silver Springs” about Lindsey. And we were in Maryland somewhere driving under a freeway sign that said Silver Spring, Maryland. And I loved the name … Silver Springs sounded like a pretty fabulous place to me. And, ‘You could be my silver springs…’, that’s just a whole symbolic thing of what you could have been to me”

Twenty years later in 1997 it would be released as a single from Fleetwood Mac’s live album “The Dance” and that version would earn a Grammy nomination.

    • I remembered your mentioning it! It is a great song and I hate to admit that about anything to due with Stevie but great is great.

  1. It’s a pretty good candidate for best b-side ever. The CD version of Rumours includes it in the middle of the album – normally it would be sacrilege to mess such an iconic album, but in this case it doesn’t matter.
