“Time To Play B-sides”- “Pink Cadillac” -Bruce Springsteen. The last singles that I remember buying were in the early 80’s when I would buy every Bruce Springsteen and Prince single because they would always put a non-album song on the B-side- which was usually pretty fantastic. “Pink Cadillac” was the b-side to “Dancing In The Dark” released in May 1984. Bruce wrote the song- it wouldn’t appear on any album until the late 1990’s when it was included on his Tracks- compilation. The song is better known to the masses as a hit single for Natalie Cole -it went to #5 in 1988 the most successful single in her career. In May at the latest Steve Earle concert I went to – he usually throws in a cover song towards the end of his concerts- he did “Pink Cadillac.”
Oh yeah. Now we’re rockin’!
I bet Steve did a fantastic cover of Pink Cadillac.
Steve if I remember the order correctly- did Racing In The Streets- and then melted it into his Sweet Little ’66 and then did Pink Cadillac. It was good.
Nice!
That is really cool!
I did the same thing with the Bruce singles – the b sides of all the BUSA singles were a great!
I loved the song but, had no idea it was a non-album B-song. Another song of his that was damned hard to find was ‘Trapped’.
Bruce was writing so many great songs in the 70’s to late 80’s- there wasn’t enough room on albums for some of them…
