Sounds of Summer- Day 4 of 95- “Summer In The City”- The Lovin’ Spoonful. I can relate more to this song than I can the beach- ocean summer songs having spent a lot more time in cities in my life than I have on the beach. I especially like the sound of the car horns and the jackhammers. “Summer In The City” was a #1 hit for The Lovin’ Spoonful -it was released on July 4, 1966 and written by John Sebastian, Mark Sebastian and Steve Boone. The Lovin’ Spoonful was from New York City- they certainly were tuned into the sounds of the Summer In The City.
Listened to them play down in Greenwich Village. A lot of artist got their start down there.
That is awesome!
Cool, Dee!
Always loved this song. Still have my 45 single.
One of my all-time favorite summer songs and β60s tune. Like you I also dig how they incorporated city sounds in the background. The song also has a pretty catchy melody thatβll probably stay in my head for the rest of the day!π
A pretty good tune to have going around in your head for a day! It certainly could be worse!!
For sure!π
Love these guys. Still listen to their music
