- DIVIDED AND UNITED: SONGS OF THE CIVIL WAR: 2013: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: We had this double CD of songs of the Civil War playing as we drove around the battlefield at Gettysburg today. Some of the artists who contributed to the 32 songs in the set- Loretta Lynn, Steve Earle, Dolly Parton, Chris Stapleton, Ralph Stanley- Americana, Bluegrass and country artists.
You can drive on the battlefield? How big is it?? Sorry I’m showing my history ignorance.
they have roads that go around the battlefield where you can drive- Gettysburg is a pretty big battlefield- it is nearly 10 square miles that is owned by the National Park Service. Some of the roads were there at the time of the battle- in some spots roads have been added years ago to get you around.. Gettysburg is my favorite place on earth. leaving for home tomorrow afternoon..
10 square miles?? Only a history teacher would say Gettysburg is their favorite place on earth π It must have a lot of charm to hold that position for you. Have a safe trip home.
It’s funny- I am not along Gettysburg for some reason really effects people -not everyone. I know folks who come here- like it and one trip is good enough even if they are into history–and then there are the Gettysnerds- I have been here I’d estimate 120 times over the years…. thanks. Always hate going home.
Hmmmm fascinating! Something powerful keeps drawing you back there! And you are having these unusual dreams. This is important. There is a message for you in those dreams about Gettysburg! Fool on the Hill could mean something big. Is there a hill there in particular that draws you to it? Do you believe in reincarnation?
Here is the reason at least I thought that song came to me in the middle of the night- doing those Beatles covers songs- the evening before I was trying to think of another cover I liked…now I have no idea why an older singer singing Fool On The Hill- came to mind. As far as Gettysburg and hills go- there are a few significant ones in the battle. I always tell Mrs. Postcard that when I die I want my ashes spread of Culp’s Hill- my favorite place on the battlefield and another key hill in the battle and the most famous is Little Round Top… reincarnation- I can’t say I don’t believe in it. I have thought about that before as something that is quite possible.
You may be able to figure out the message. It’s not always what you first think it is. Dreams often give “pun messages”. I had one where I asked a question before bed and dreamt of tiny “shrimp” in the shape of “Y”s moving along the ocean floor. The “Y” shape translated to “Why?” Hans, you have to see that there is a connection between the notable hills at Gettysburg and “the fool on the hill” a familiar song sung by an old, unfamiliar voice. Only you can put the pieces of the puzzle together.
I thought about that dream a lot on the ride home…
You’re home now? Good, any new thoughts on it?
Nothing conclusive. I can understand dreaming a Beatles song but why the fool on the hill? interesting.
