Songs of Summer- Day 3 of 95- “Soak Up The Sun”- Sheryl Crow. Two of my favorite Sheryl Crow songs came out in 2002 on her C’mon C’mon album- the song about the King of Cool- Steve McQueen titled- “Steve McQueen” and this song which went to #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart and 17 on the Hot 100 pop chart. Even though I do not like to soak up the sun- I do love this song. “Soak Up The Sun” was written by Crow and Jeff Trott. It was one of the first songs that came to my mind when I thought songs that I associate with summer.
Such a natural beauty. 🌼
Listen to Sheryl Crow & Carlos Santana this morning. Nice stuff.
I love me some Sheryl Crow. She’s made a lot of good songs. Her voice is like sunshine. She is a natural beauty, as Gail said!
Another great summer tune. Now you’ve inspired to look for my previously created playlist of summer songs, which I haven’t listened to in a long time!😀
In any case, Sheryl Crow has written a number of great songs over the years. Usually, I find at least one or two decent tracks on every album I know, and I think I’ve listened to most if not all of them.
She actually has a collaboration album slated for later this year, featuring such high caliber guests like Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks, Eric Clapton and Keith Richards. That surely sounds intriguing! She also recently said since most folks nowadays only buy or stream individual songs, not entire albums, this may be her last full-fledged record and that going forward she is likely going to focus on singles or EPS.
Oh, well, the times they are a-changin’!
I must admit that I have lost touch with Sheryl since around the time Soak Up The Sun/ Steve McQueen came out- not that she has released THAT much in the past decade or so but I need to play catch up with her.
Sheryl definitely has a good ear for catchy rock pop tunes and a decent voice. I kind of like her most recent album “Be Myself.”
I have all of her albums up to the greatest hits- best of in like 2003…will make note to listen to her newer stuff for sure.
OH, I can’t stand this song. It is empty calories to me. Just cheese.
Her Globe Sessions album had more meat to it. More soul…
I just recently found out that she did a song for the movie Home of the Brave:
