History in Music- “We Didn’t Start The Fire”- Billy Joel. This is one of the most famous songs I could pick as far as History in Music. It was a #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1989. Bill Joel wrote the song. It lists 119 events that happened from Truman’s election in 1948- until the present day [1989} pretty impressive for a song that was under 5 minutes. It’s hard to believe 30 years have passed since this single came out. I know Joel is retired as far as making new music goes but why don’t you do a follow up Billy n the past 30 years-they sure have been eventful ones.
I had a student years ago do a power point working in all the events and historical personalities Joel mentions in the song- she did a very good job. I think I have it around somewhere on a jump drive. Meanwhile below is a link to a story that lists everything in order-in Joel’s song.

What a time capsule the song is, and the person who pulled that video slideshow together is a champ!
It is impressive how he got everything into chronological order. Some of his hollering is unintentionally hilarious. “ROCK AND ROLLER COLA WARS/I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE”.
According to the link he provided, above, he didn’t do so well after 1964.
