Songs I like by Artists I Don’t- “Waterfalls”- TLC. TLC had 4 #1 hits in the 1990’s- Creep, Waterfalls, No Scrubs and Unpretty. Nine of their eleven hits reached the Top 10. I had heard their big hits on the radio- and listened a couple times to a Greatest Hits package-and the only song of theirs that I could say I really liked was Waterfalls- a #1 hit from 1995- nearly 25 years ago. From their CrazySexyCool album the single spent 7 weeks at #1 and earned two Grammy nominations. Waterfalls was the first #1 song to reference AIDS in it. The song written by Marqueze Etheridge, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez and Organized Noise -is a socially conscious song which tackled the issues of the illegal drug trade, promiscuity and HIV/AIDS- also won the Video of the Year Award. The song also takes a line from a Paul McCartney song of the same name  “Don’t go jumping waterfalls, please stick to the lake.”
