1969 Song of the Day- “I Wanna Be Your Dog’-by The Stooges. The self-titled The Stooges was the debut album by The Stooges- it’s hard to believe front man Iggy Pop-born James Osterberg Jr has been with us now for 50 years. My favorite Stooge isn’t Moe, Curly or Larry- but Iggy Stooge. This is considered a forerunner to the punk music explosion in the mid 70’s. Iggy has been called the Godfather Of Punk. {I have always maintained that the first punk rocker was Hank} I Wanna Be Your Dog is one of the top songs in The Stooges history. Over the years it has been featured in a number of film soundtracks and it has been covered a couple dozen times by various artists. The Velvet Undergrounds John Cale guests on this song playing piano, percussion and sleigh bells. The song written by Iggy is about how he wants to be sexually abused by a woman. Iggy has always been known for his outrageous behavior- he was like that from the get go.
First time hearing this song. Primitive is the first word that comes to mind. Iggy used to be cute, I see. Isn’t he from MI?
I am thinking he is from the Detroit area.
another one I am shocked who is still alive-he will turn 72 in a month.
Dang, he’s lived every minute of it too. For someone without much talent — imo — he sure has been in the middle of things for a long time.
Oh, Iggy…
“I’m only 5′ 1″…
And, I’m doin’ the things that a 5′ 1″ man can do…”
Ever see him on Star Trek Deep Space Nine?
I have never seen Star Trek Deep Space Nine only the original Star Trek.

The conversation (give & take) has been snipped a bit but, he was in one episode as a Vorta:
Sit down, Iggy. Your master will come soon.
