1969 Song of the Day- “Bitch”- The Rolling Stones. Bitch opens side of The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers album. Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards- Bitch wasn’t a single but did receive a lot of AOR airplay which is too bad because I would have loved to have heard Casey Kasem have to introduce the song on American Top 40-he probably would have just said- “here is the latest hit from The Rolling Stones.”- of course I did get a kick out of his introducing Sir Elton’s “The Bitch Is Back.” Anyway. I don’t see why this wasn’t released as a single- it would have been a hit- I’d rank it the third best song on Sticky Fingers-behind Dead Flowers and Brown Sugar.
I don’t like the b word but it fits the context of the song. This song rocks out. Never knew the name of it or the lyrics but now that I know both I like it even better.
Every once in a while I when listening to those old Top 40’s- I see a song that’s title kind of cracks me up when I know Casey has to address it- I wonder if he was still doing the countdown when George Michael’s I Want Your Sex for example was a hit?
hilarious, casey reminds me of yoda, at least in looks, but didn’t you post something where he was getting mean with somebody?
Yes- a while back- he was doing a long distance dedication- and was coming out of an uptempo song- and doing the dedication about a dying dog-[i assume the song he was going to play was Shannon by Henry Gross} and he flipped out. … I always enjoyed listening to him on the Top 40- but there was always to me a comical edge to it [and I don’t think he ever thought he was trying to be funny}…. I have always wondered what music he listened to? No matter what he played of course he was never critical of anything.
Bitch was on a single, it was the B-side of Brown Sugar.
Love this song!
