The Rolling Stones Song of the Day is- Can You Hear Me Knocking – side 1- song 4 on Sticky Fingers. Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards it is at 7:14 the longest song on Sticky Fingers. This is mostly an instrumental song- before the 3 minute mark Mick is done singing- and its all instrumental work the rest of the way- with guest musicians Billy Preston, on organ, Nicky Hopkins on piano, Bobby Keys on sax, Rocky Dijon on percussion and trumpet player Jim Price- and of course the guitar work of Keith and Mick Taylor. A great guitar song- but goes on too long.
I agree…it does go on too long it just dissolves. It’s a great Keef riff though.
Man Sticky Fingers is just an embarrassment of riches. A couple of songs are a little unremarkable but there are like eight stone cold classics.
Have to agree they were on a roll!
I love this song!
The live version on Sticky Fingers Live at the Fonda Theatre in L.A. is killer! I previously posted it – I think sometime last year.
The Stones were in top form during that 2015 gig.
Let me be the first to say that 7:16 is just right!~ Love all the breakdown more than the verse. Take out Mick Taylors playing and the thing would fall apart of course.
