Not my favorite top 40…still a few good songs though. I did buy Dire Strait’s debut album when I heard Sultans of Swing.
Me too- all I had to hear was Sultans Of Swing and I was sold- bought the album the next trip to the record store…. off topic- how about the Dodgers offering 4 years -180 million and being turned down by Harper.. crazy on his part.
It’s an epic song and that style of guitar playing was new at the time.
I do think he was crazy to turn that down. He must not believe in himself because he could have turned around and hit a giant payday again.
If the DH is coming…which I hope not… then he will be paid big by an NL team even if his defense keeps declining.
He would be with a better team in a better place… Philly would be the last place I’d want to go.
The very last place I agree. And he would have been closer to his home. From the rumors I’ve read his family wanted him to sign with the Dodgers or Giants because of that.
Sorry, but I do love ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy’ and really love Nicolette Larson’s ‘Lotta Love’. And I’m shocked that you gave Y.M.C.A. an A!
I don’t know why but i like most of the disco songs from that countdown…
Music Box Dancer, yes. I can’t dis Rod, tho.
Rod was embarrassing himself at that point IMO… he jumped the shark when he met Britt Ekland..
I just love Rod. I love all of his music…and I own no albums of his (go figure).
I think he jumped the shark SEVERAL times. Eight kids from five different women. I believe he said something along these lines, once…”Instead getting married, again, I think I will just find a woman I hate and give her a house.”
Britt Ekland was better than Alana. GEEZUS.
Britt Ekland- around that time is when his music started to slide. He became more interested in being a tabloid figure than an artist.
On the backside of all of that, he is one of the richest Brit entertainers & was knighted. His newest wife carries the title of Lady Stewart.
He ain’t hurting.
OH, OH, OH…I Will Survive… I’d rather hear Music Box Dancer.
Egad, I’m so sick of that song!
