Hans Worst Hits of the 90’s- “Cotton Eye Joe”- Rednex. This single only reached #25 on the Billboard singles chart but it seemed like a much bigger hit. For years it would be played between innings at baseball games- where you can’t turn the station. Why do they usually play bad music at ballgames between innings anymore? Kind of like when the moron drives past you on the street with the music so loud his car is shaking- I think one time I might have heard a good tune coming out of that car with the volume up to 11. I always think you are destroying your hearing for THAT? Anyhow- Cotton Eyed Joe is an old traditional song brutalized by this Swedish techno group- this was their only American hit. It was a huge hit around Europe though- going #1 in a number of countries. The song itself goes back to the 1920’s- and has been recorded a number of times over the years mostly by country type groups although the Moody Blues covered it in the 80s’– it in itself is not a bad song at all but in the hands of Rednex- well that is a different story.
Thank you for including videos where available. It’s fun to watch and be reminded exactly how bad/funny/odd a song is. This one it a notch lower in my estimation then ‘Timber’ by Pittbull featuring Kei$ha. LOL
I will have to listen to Timber- I don’t think at least to my knowledge that I’ve heard it.
The styles don’t mix well… to me anyway… I’ve never heard it…or if I did it was maybe one time…and that is a good thing.
It’s almost like they are mocking Americans here, and I don’t like it.
I agree with you… I checked I am #292 on the waiting list for The First Man..
o.m.g. your library system is vastly larger than the one i work with. a barrier to borrowing DVD vs books here is that the state doesn’t subscribe to the video borrowing outside of the district, which severely limits which DVDs we have access to.
there are 146 dvds of First Man in the system. we are connected to over 100 other libraries in the state.
I’ve honestly never heard this song.
Wow- but in saying that there are probably a number of #1 hits in the last 20 years I am not the last aware of…I heard this a lot at baseball games in between innings..
Eclectic don’t use this cover as a yardstick for the song. There are better and less offensive versions out there. I think this song is one that gets used for line dancing…
Lucky you🤣 It still gives me nightmares
