Hans Worst Hits of the 2000’s- Who Let The Dogs Out?- Baha Men. What an annoying piece of junk. It only took one listen to hate and you couldn’t avoid it- nearly 20 years ago – it came out as a single in 2000. It was everywhere- you couldn’t even go to a sports game without hearing it played. The song was written in 1998 by Anslem Douglas and covered first by a producer Jonathan King who released it under the name of Fat Jakk and his Pack of Pets. The song was brought to the attention of the Bahamian group Baha Men who then recorded it in 1999.
The songwriter Anslem Douglas has admitted the song had nothing to do with dogs- it was about men. It was a man bashing song to begin with.
The first use of the song -the Baha Men version was by the Director of Promotions of the Seattle Mariners Gregg Greene in June 2000 when he played it at a baseball game. A couple days later Alex Rodriguez of the Mariners requested it as his walk-up song.
The shocking part of all this to me is this- while the song was a big hit all over the world- it went to #1 in the UK, Australia and New Zealand and Top 10 in numerous other countries it peaked at #40 in the US? I was certain this was probably a #1 hit as often as it was played. #40 really?
Wish we could somehow get our time back from hearing that monstrosity of a song. I definitely wish someone didn’t let those dogs out.
Wish the dogs had turned back on whoever let them out!
Haha, now that’s a music video I’d like to see!
Sometimes you need stupid to simply get along. LOL
Alex Rodriguez …I never liked the guy…now I have another reason.
Then, there was this:
Totally agree with you on this turd.
Perhaps the one time the US didn’t lead the world in tackiness !
