The Rolling Stones Song of the Day- On With The Show- the final song on Their Satanic Majesties Request. The song was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.  Mick plays the role of master of ceremonies in a muffled voice- to conclude the album- a good closer- in which Mick drops in the titles of standards- Old Man River and Stormy Weather. Brian Jones is all over the song- playing mellotron, harmonica and organ. As the song and the album ends- sessionman Nicky Hopkins lets go on some ragtime. The song was a great album ender it wouldn’t have sounded right in the middle of the album. I have mixed feelings on this album- Their Satanic Majesties Request- I have went from not liking it at one point in time to thinking now- that while it is certainly a lesser work from The Rolling Stones its not the disaster I first though.

  1. Hans, watching and listening to this, I wonder if the Rocky Horror Picture Show could have been inspired from it. This came out in 1968 and RHPS came out in 1975… what do you think?
