The Rolling Stones Song of the Day is- Sing This All Together. In the summer of 1967- the so called Summer Of Love- The Beatles had already released Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band- and psychedelic music was all the rage- so instead of doing a wise thing and just ignoring it- The Rolling Stones went into the studio and recorded their psychedelic album which was released in December. It’s not a terrible album- but it’s not their finest hour either. If anything it proved they weren’t a psychedelic band. The album- Their Satanic Majesties Request was of course written and recorded under the influence of hallucinogens. They must have had a bad batch. The lead off song on side 1 is Sing This Song Together. Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards- the working title for the song had been “God Bless You.” It seems kind of odd that The Rolling Stones fell for the flower power because they didn’t seem to have much interest in the hippie movement up to this point. As John Lennon once pointed out- The Rolling Stones seemed to follow The Beatles lead on many things. Maybe they were just wanting in on the trend. Of the songs on the album this was as good of a song to lead off as any.
Oh, that just hurts. It sounds like some kind of Sesame Street kid sing-a-long.
I need a dose of Brown Sugar to choke that down. π€’
I enjoyed that album! It was no Sgt. Pepper for sure, but it has its moments. And you had to love the 3D cover art! Still got my copy!

Hans, I love that comment about must have gotten a bad batch. I just listened to and watched a video on somebody else’s blog that had a similar kind of psychedelic border to the lyrics, then there was a cover of it by KISS. I admit neither one was bad. Maybe even good lol. sixstrstories, that’s very cool that you have the original album. that thing is a collector’s item i bet!
p.s. it was a song from this album that I saw on another blog. sorry for messy writing.
No worries!
