HAN’S WORST HITS OF THE 70’S- ‘SISTER MARY ELEPHANT”- CHEECH AND CHONG

Han’s Worst Hits of the 70’s- is not a song but  a comedy skit by Cheech and Chong  called Sister Mary Elephant  reached #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1974. The funny part of this song is the student who when reading his essay on what he did over the summer- had the same routine every day. But the part that over the years I had forgotten was the running gag through out the skit where Sister Mary Elephant screams at the top of her lungs “SHUT UP”-  Today in listening to a replay of American Top 40 from January 1974- this was in the top 40 and I had forgotten that scream. Once would have been more than enough but it was jarring and annoying. I had a headache for an hour after hearing it.  Who likes to hear someone scream? Awful stuff. Cheech and Chong had their moments- this wasn’t a very good one.

  1. All I remember about Cheech and Chong was how much my brother loved them. Remember the trouble Chong got into because of selling bongs and whatnot and that he even went to prison for a while? The hypocrisy of this country, with a liquor store on every corner of every street in every city and every state, is beyond comprehension!
