Han’s Worst Hits of the 80’s- Air Supply- “All Out Of Love.” In doing the research I must admit I was shocked by the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart success that Air Supply had in the early to mid 1980’s. I was aware of their presence but I had no interest in their music so I didn’t realize that their first seven singles all made the Top 5 including The One That You Love which was a #1. Lost In Love #3, All Out Of Love #2, Every Woman In The World #5, That One That You Love #1, Here I Am #5, Sweet Dreams #5 and Even The Nights Are Better #5, after barely cracking the Top 40 with Young Love and Two Less Lonely People In The World- both #38 they went to #2 with Making Love Out Of Nothing At All and Just As I Am #19 in 1985 before fading from the airwaves.
I picked “All Out Of Love” because that is the one I remembered the most-but any of the above listed would fit. These guys were soft rock emphasis on SOFT. They made Bread sound like Norwegian Death Metal. Their hits all sound the same- love songs at a slow tempo same basic sentiments in all the songs. They knew no uptempo at all- not even for variety once in a while. That was probably in the end the death of their popularity. Obviously American’s loved their wimp pop in the early 80’s. I am still kind of stunned to see how successful these singles were.
“wimp pop” excellent name for it. This line made me laugh: “They made Bread sound like Norwegian Death Metal.”
I was JUST about to cut & paste the exact same line as above!! Lol! She beat me to it!
They made elevator music look great too.
Also while I’ve never tried it- a potential cure for insomnia.
