HAN’S WORST HITS OF THE 80’S-“ROCK ME AMADEUS’–FALCO

Rock Me Amadeus (Falco single - cover art).jpg

After featuring the 70’s for the past week or so- time for Han’s Worst Hits- to jump to the 80’s today- with Rock Me Amadeus- by Falco. Rock Me Amadeus was written by Falco and Dutch music producers-Rob and Ferdi Bolland. It would become the first German language #1 in the US. It also went to #1 in the UK. The song is about the great Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The mid 80’s was a big period for old Mozart- in 1984 was the award winning movie Amadeus- so Falco wisely jumped on the bandwagon. The most annoying part of the song was the”  Amadeus Amadeus Amadeus Amadeus”  I hadn’t heard the song in years until today and I can recall now why I would instantly change the radio station when this came on. Falco would die young- at the age of 40 as a result of a car accident in 1998.
