ALBUMS

Diamond dogs.jpg

  • DAVID BOWIE: DIAMOND DOGS:1974: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: The album got mixed reviews upon release I believe modern day reviewers have a more positive view of it. Described as a marriage between Orwell’s 1984 and Bowie’s own apocalyptic visions. Rebel Rebel, Diamond Dogs and 1984 were released as singles and Sweet Thing and Candidate are other favorites from this.

  • CROSBY, STILLS AND NASH: GREATEST HITS: 2005: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS:  19 songs. Maybe it should have been called a Best of– because two of their hits which Neil Young plays on- Ohio and Woodstock do not appear. Why?  A good representation of the group but docked a star for no Ohio and Woodstock.

Taylor Swift - Taylor Swift.png

  • TAYLOR SWIFT: TAYLOR SWIFT: 2006: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Swift was only sixteen years old when her debut album was released. It went to #1 in the US Country Album chart and #5 in the Top 200 with 5 Top 40 singles. An impressive debut she would only get better.

  • TEENAGE FANCLUB: SONGS FROM NORTHERN BRITAIN: 1997: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: While on a vacation in England in 2003 I picked up Nik Hornby’s book 31 Songs- in which he featured two songs from this album. I then bought the album and it was in heavy rotation for a few years. Love the band and this remains my favorite album of theirs. They’ve never had much success in the US which is puzzling.

also listened to the December 4, 1971 replay of American Top 40 on the 70’s on 7- an outstanding week.
